I don’t know about you, but Tuesday has got to be my least favourite day of the week. Yes, you're over Monday, but Friday's still so far away – my general feelings towards it are just ‘meh’. However, last week (courtesy of award-winning restaurant Salt & Malt) my usual average mardi was ramped up a notch – duly needed.
Tapas Tuesdays – it has a ring to it, right? If in agreement, then you’re going to be all over Salt & Malt’s new Tuesday evening menu. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the name already – S&M (ahem) are one of Bristol’s long-standing favourites among the local foodies. Baby of Bristolian chef and restaurateur Josh Eggleton, Salt & Malt offers delicious locally and ethically sourced fish served near beautiful waterside locations – Chew Valley Lake and Wapping Wharf to be precise.
Above: Fried halloumi with chilli jam, curried whitebait with lemon mayo, Cod croquette with horseradish mayo, shell on prawns with Marie Rose.
Above: Mussels with cider and parsley, squid with peanut, sesame and chilli, smoked salmon with orange & fennel, buttered brown shrimp on sourdough, chunky chips.
Already known for their famous Fish & Chips, Salt & Malt are taking a new approach to entice diners – this time with delicious small plates, showcasing imaginative flavour combinations (Squid, peanut, sesame and chilli) with old classics (scallops, garlic, lemon and herb). Moderately priced but generously portioned, this new menu is fantastic for those that live for fantastic fish and the Mediterranean way of eating.
Salt & Malt are yet to extend this exciting new menu to their Wapping Wharf premises – but you can still catch all of the goodness down at their Chew Valley Lake location, and what a beautiful spot it is!
If you're tastebuds are tempted already, you can book in over at the Salt & Malt website.
